The much dreaded terrorist group Boko Haram struck again yesterday in Borno state. This time a Church in Gwoza was the focus of their attack. The insurgents attacked the EYN Church (Church of Brethren, Nigeria) at about 9:30.a.m while the service was still ongoing. No fewer than 9 worshipers were slain by the terrorists.
One of the fleeing members of the church told journalists on Monday in Maiduguri, the state capital, that the gunmen stormed their church on motorcycles. It was also learnt that many were injured in the attack while trying to run to safety.
However, some residents of the village summoned the courage to pursue the gunmen and killed four of the assailants, arresting three others in the process.
