The Nigerian police have accused five men of raping a 16 year old girl at the Orile Iganmu Area of Lagos State. According to Punch, The police said the victim was abducted and taken into the building around 2am by the suspects, who took turns to rape her.
After a police raid, three of the five suspects were arrested, while the others took to their heels.
They were arraigned on Tuesday before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrate’s Court on two counts of rape.
The suspects were identified as Shittu Taiwo (23), Riliwan Alao (32), and Sunday Akinyele (27).
The police prosecutor, DSP Etim Nkankuk, said the offence was punishable under sections 409 and 258 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2011.
The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge and elected summary trial.
Their defence counsel, F.S. Oladele, applied for their bail in liberal terms.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs A.A. Demi-Ajayi, admitted them to bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.
