You’ve probably never heard of Isabella Tanikumi. And until recently Disney probably hadn’t either. But that isn’t stopping the small-time writer from suing Disney for $250 million because she thinks the media giant ripped off the plot of Frozen from her own life story.
Despite the animated film clearly being inspired by The Snow Queen, a much older story, Tanikumi says Disney stole the idea from her book, Yearnings of the Heart, which was published without much fanfare after Disney began work on the allegedly offending film.
Even if Tanikumi wins—which, umm, she won’t—Disney could stomach the blow. Frozen has brought in an incredible $1.2 billion worldwide.
